Ved-ava
Soberana divina de las aguas y sus bondades, común en la mitología de varios pueblos bálticos y ugrofineses que tradicionalmente viven de la pesca.

También era la encargada de estimular la fecundidad en los seres humanos y el ganado. Se parecía a una sirena, con el cabello largo, los pechos grandes seguidos de un cuerpo pisciforme. Los pescadores le ofrecían en sacrificio su primera captura y observaban numerosos tabúes cuando pescaban. Ver a Ved-ava generalmente presagiaba desgracia, casi siempre ahogarse. También se le ha considerado como el espíritu de una persona ahogada o simplemente como una personificación del agua.
